Hi! This is my first entry to bento challenge. :0)

I made this bento this morning. It contains rice onigiri in the shape of a bunny, with nori and seasoning for a face. The background is created using garlic mashed potatoes and food coloring. The carrot is made of (predictably) carrot, and broccoli. My protein for today's lunch comes in the form of ham slices skewered on a toothpick.
Let me know what you think. :0)

When I first learned what bento is, I noticed that some people chose to make cute little animals such as cats, bunnies, and the cliche Hello Kitty. Once I decided that I too was going to become an obsessive Housewife who makes "Cute" food, I always envisioned making a Chinchilla out of rice for my husband's box.
I finally had the opportunity to do so with this challenge, but instead of rice, I used leftover Mashed potatos from Thanksgiving. It kind of looks like a cat here, but I think I reached my goal in making my husband go "aww."

Left tier has two slices of leftover baked turkey, baby carrots, and Ranch dressing in silicon mold.
Right tier has a Gray Chinchilla made out of dyed mashed potatoes (I was hoping for gray, but it looks more purple-y). His eyes are raisins, nose is ham, and nori whiskers. Belly is white American cheese.
Under the sushi grass I put in a few small slices of Fuji apple and gravy sauce for the Turkey and potatos in the green silicon mold.
I noticed that he is smiling, although that was not intentional :)
And for reference purposes, ( my chinchilla )

This week's challenge is to put some animals in your lunch. They can be cute and cuddly critters or bold and ferocious beasts. Whatever you decide remember to tag your entry 'animals'
